We were certainly glad to be back at our resident home, Favela Chic, last night and seems our regulars were too, as we had queues from 8pm and one in on out by 9pm!
December's open mic winner, D.ablo finally got his chance to shine and impressed the audience with an acoustic set. Next up were La Rebla Fam, who went down a storm with their alternative set.
Mz Bratt, who only recently came out of hospital following a stomach infection, still managed to impress the crowd with a quieter set performed sitting down. If she can hold an audience like this we predict big things for the lady.
The eight open mic slots were filled by 8pm and it was now the eager performers turn to take to the stage. Always a popular part of the night with our audience, last night was no exception and Sean Williams came out a clear winner and will be taking the opening slot at May's show.
Hyper and Marci jumped on the stage when DJ Wonder dropped their latest track ‘Bring It Bac' bringing on a bevy of dancers to perform the running man, butterfly and various other dancers of yesteryear. They even got audience members up and involved.
The second half brought the producer Self Taught Beats with a collection of singers and rappers, Katy Pearl with an seven piece live band (yes it was a nightmare getting them on the stage!) and finally the undisputed princess of the night Princess Nyah, who looked and sounded like a star.
Big up to Flava TV (catch all the highlights throughout May on Flava) and Chipmunk, G Range and all the music industry in the house.
