If it’s not the first time you’ve scrolled though an urban, London-based blog, then you’ll have seen a nuance of Chockablock in your idle browsing. The once-in-a-while rave has been running since before I was old enough to get in (legally), alongside the days of Dirty Canvas and the best of ‘em. Organiser, JP (http://josephjppatterson.blogspot.com/) got things lined up with Boxfresh to present the GrimeForum.com awards. As per usual, there were different vibes for different vibers divided amongst the various rooms that make up the EGG.

My night was Grime-centred. DJ Complex was amongst those who kept the room going from mix-to-mix, Red Stripe-to-Red Stripe. All was bubbly until eyes opened for the PAs. Tempa T was first to hold the microphone and do justice to choice selections from Kiss’ DJ Logan Sama. The crowd went wild as underground hits such as S-X’s ‘Woooo’ surged through the speakers and OGz went rounds in, catching the drops for grime's biggest instrumentals.

Needless to say, the reloads were dished out as deserved for P Money, Blacks and Little Dee. As the mixing went on, Skepta and Jammer did well in keeping the hype in the air. Their rapport was strong as they passed the mic between themselves, amplifying every bassline they laid bars over. East London emcee, Bruza and Badness contributed to a fiery set before the night came to a close. It definitely wasn’t one to be missed.
