REVIEW: Bring The Noise frames Chris Ofili's work for the next generation.

Sunday, 21st of March saw the second day of Charlie Dark’s completely free Bring the Noise convention in the Tate Britain. The event was held over two consecutive Sunday afternoons in an attempt to attract a younger crowd to the Tate. Celebrating the artistic works of Turner Prize winner Chris Ofili, young musicians and artists selected pieces of his work and created their own responses to these chosen pieces using their chosen medium (live performance, musical composition, poetry etc).

The Octagon had an energetic vibe with DJ Cooly G (pictured) mixing funky and dubstep beats and Dalston’s finest salon, Wah Nails, making every females’ nails look irresistible. The queue for the nail designs was snake-like the whole day but it was definitely worth the wait. I even got my nails looking all peeerttty with their Afrodizzia (Second version) inspired designs. Cooly G also produced a track from scratch in response to Ofili’s Afro Sunrise and Confession (Lady Chancellor) and Rolling Sound were running music workshops throughout the day, teaching people how to produce beats, inspired by Ofili’s work.

The queue for the nail designs was snake- like the whole day but it was definitely worth the wait.

Needless to say, the massive turnout on the day has something to do with the scheduled performance of one Tinie Tempah. The day was filled with waves of new urban UK talent, which has recently swamped the music scene and the charts. Both Tinie and dubstep sensation Goldielocks performed, giving us a taste of the UK urban scene.

Goldilocks gave a private performance of a little something she devised in her bedroom, in response to Ofili’s Third Eye Vision. It was uberly on point! It fit that choppy magical sense of order within the chaos that the painting conveys. Tinie Tempah chose to drop some exclusive verses inspired by No Woman No Cry and indeed it was quite special. He did forget a line at one point, but the depth of the lyrics certainly made up for this and it only made the verse seem that much more exclusive and freshly written. Loved it!

Hats go off to Mr Dark, who hosted a really fun and inspiring day. The youthful turn out was impressive and it was encouraging to see young people show an interest in the beauty of art.

It’s a definite must see!

Meanwhile, the Software sales have been showing the downward trend marking 8 percent to $403.3 million. NCAA Football 11, which sold a combined 692,000 units on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, is the top title in the list.

And there is a bad news for those who predicted the end of traditional games. PC gaming had ensured a big gain in July, growing 103 percent. This trend was followed to the release of blockbuster Starcraft II, which sold 721,000 copies.
