MY TAKEOVER: Nonny holds court at the Industry Takeover seminar
When I heard about Industry Takeover I immediately wanted to get involved. I have always had a passion for events and music, so I knew it would be a great opportunity to meet like-minded people and help to empower young people to pursue their goals.
I have really enjoyed my time as a UD Creative. It fully immerses you in the project as you are involved at every stage of the process – from planning the event to marketing it.
The highlight of working on Industry Takeover Pt. 2 was definitely the All-Day Seminar & Showcase when we took over the Rich Mix, as every corner of the building was bustling with people and activities. I co-hosted the Underground to Overground seminars, along with Lady Jay, and it was great to see all that all our planning had come together. One of our panellists, journalist, Chantelle Fiddy shared her humorous (and slightly controversial) opinions on the grime scene and mainstream artists and had the crowd in stitches on many occasions. She even hijacked our second seminar How To Steal My Job, which featured her friend and colleague RWD Editor, Hattie Collins – they definitely make a good double act. However, it was moments like that these that showed that not only was everyone there to learn and share ideas but that having fun was equally important.
"Being a UD creative has been a great experience and I’d love to do it all over again!"
This was reflected in the showcase on the main stage, where emerging and established artists had a chance to entertain the crowd – the calibre of acts was high and it was nice to see emerging acts getting a great reception. But the most memorable performance definitely had to go to Griminal, Ghetts and Wretch 32 who had everyone going crazy.
Being a UD creative has been a great experience and I’d love to do it all over again!
