Tenny Ten, born and raised in Wolverhampton, was inspired by his mother, a backing vocalist for UB40, from an early age. He launched his career in 2007 with the mixtape Ghetto Brick Road and has gone onto support acts such as Chipmunk and Skepta.

2. Shani Cuppcake - Take It Low (White)
Seventeen-year old sixth form student Shanique stepped into the limelight with a feature on Ill Blu's funky anthem ‘Say Yes’, a re-jig of the Floetry classic. Under the wing of Chams at Face 4 Music, Shani’s a favourite amongst the Urban Development ladies with ‘Take It Low’ affirming her princess of funky status.

3. Crazy Cousinz - Sonar (Defenders Ent)
The production duo Flukes, Paleface and Play have been a familiar name on the funky scene since 2007, working with the likes of Tinie Tempah (‘Wifey Riddim’), Meleka (‘Go’) and Kyla (‘Do You Mind’) as well as remixing Jay Sean, Estelle, Alesha Dixon and the rest. Check out their clothing range too.

4. Swedish House Mafia ft Shani Cuppcake Bloodstained Mirror (White)
Not one to rest on her laurels, Shani Cuppcake has done her own take on the current smash from Swedish House Mafia, ‘Miami To Ibiza’, the original of which features Tinie Tempah. Showcasing a different side to her usual funky offerings, we’re down for more like this.

5. KOF ft Esco Williams - All Good (One Hundred Global)
Liverpudlian KOF has made his impact on the homegrown scene with tracks such as 'Fire It Up' featuring Wiley and his EP ‘DJ Put It Louder.’ You may have seen him performing on the Huw Stephens BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury festival too. ‘All Good’ is currently on the 1Xtra b-list and will be released for free on November 21st.

6. Lioness – 1,2,3 (White)
A university graduate and female emcee, Lioness has worked with the likes of Wiley, P Money, Shimmer, NY and Mz Bratt to name a few. Gaining over 56,000 views on her SB.TV F64 freestyle, as well as performing at Sunday Show, Urban Development and ILUVLIVE, showcasing the material from her 2010 mixtape Lochness Monster, has seen the love grow.

7. Maverick Sabre ft Footsie - Inside (Mercury)
The twenty-year old Irish Londoner Maverick Sabre knows how to bring the rough with the smooth, his distinct gritty soul style coupled with hip-hop lyricism nabbing him a deal over at Mercury this year (big up DJ Semtex). His Travelling Man EP, produced by his legendary label mates Chase & Status, is out now. Grime and dub veteran Footsie appears courtesy of Newham Generals and Dirtee Stank.

8. Skepta - Over The Top (Boy Better Know)
North London artist Skepta has been making grime since the early 00’s and has collaborated with the likes of Chipmunk, N Dubz, Tinchy Stryder and P Diddy. With two albums under his LV belt and a third to be released next year, Skepta recently headlined the MOBO tour to critical acclaim.‘Cross My Heart’ feat. Preeya Kalidas is out now.

9. Ghetts - Grime Daily (360 Records)
Ghetts (formerly known as Ghetto) is a staple grime scene favourite. With four mixtapes under his belt and an album in the making he’s collaborated with anyone who’s anyone including Kano, Wiley and Griminal. The video for ‘Grime Daily’ dropped recently – you can also get it on his 2010 release, Calm Before The Storm.

10. Marvell - We Know (Risky Roadz Records)
The north London based trio are known for their unique flows and matching dress sense. Shocka, Vortex and Double S have built up a loyal fanbase (over 22,000 of which reside on their Facebook page). With a T-shirt line, hat collaboration with New Era Caps and two Marvell FM Mixtapes under their belts, 2011 promises a lot more.

11. Jakwob ft RoxXxan - Scare The Snare (Boom Ting Recordings)
Birmingham born and bred, RoxXan, came to London just over a year ago to pursue her career as a bass loving emcee, as displayed on Jakwob’s dubstep smash ‘Scare The Snare’. Now signed to Polydor she’s working on her debut album that will drop in 2011.

12. Janiece Myers ft KOF & R.I.O - Future Sounds (One Hundred Global)
Janiece Myers, 21, is a singer-songwriter from Liverpool who’s worked with the likes of DaVinChe, KOF and Mz Bratt. Her free downloadable mixtape, In My Element, made available earlier this year, helped put Myers on the musical map. Her single ‘Underground Love’ is out soon on Wiley’s A List Records.

14. Selah ft Sadie Ama & Mz Bratt - Woman's World (Pure Recordings)
With a whopping backlog of musical experience from singing live on GMTV aged 10, doing backing vocals for Ms Dynamites on the Brit Awards and performing with Lemar at BBC Maida Vale in 2008, Selah has made quite a name for herself. The singer is currently working on her debut album.

16. Maxsta - The Come Up (Game Kid Recording)
Maxsta, 18, was born and raised in east London. His first independent release in March 2010, The Maxtape, sold 2000 units from HMV. His recent free EP, The Come Up, is getting serious love and is still available for download. Now under the loving arm of Takeover Ent (Tinchy/ Giggs) he’s working on his debut album.

17. Angel - Take My Place (Island Records)
UK R&B singer Angel has recently signed to Island Records and has already been on the MOBO tour, performing all over the UK with the likes of Skepta and Aggro Santos. The artist who received over 15,000 hits on his SBTV freestyle has an astounding back catalog of music in the pipeline to be released next year.

18. R.I.O - Margin Away (Rare Breed)
Twenty-five year old Mancunian R.I.O made his mark by releasing four mixtapes in less than two years, with radio support coming from DJs like MistaJam (Radio1) and DJ Target (1Xtra). He’s also opened shows for Ne-Yo, T-Pain, Chipmunk and Ironik. His new single ‘Mr Unpredictable’ was produced by Nathan Retro and is out now.

19. Jodie Connor - Now Or Never (Polydor)
Singer-songwriter Jodie Connor hit the big time in 2010 when she appeared on Roll Deep’s Number 1 ‘Good Times’ and Tinchy Stryder's ‘In My System’. A crowd favourite on the recent MOBO tour, ‘Now Or Never’ is Jodie’s debut single and is due out soon.
