Seventeen-year old sixth form student Shanique stepped into the limelight with a feature on Ill Blu's funky anthem ‘Say Yes’, a re-jig of the Floetry classic. Under the wing of Chams at Face 4 Music, Shani’s a favourite amongst the Urban Development ladies with ‘Take It Low’ affirming her princess of funky status.

Crazy Cousinz3. Crazy Cousinz - Sonar (Defenders Ent)

The production duo Flukes, Paleface and Play have been a familiar name on the funky scene since 2007, working with the likes of Tinie Tempah (‘Wifey Riddim’), Meleka (‘Go’) and Kyla (‘Do You Mind’) as well as remixing Jay Sean, Estelle, Alesha Dixon and the rest. Liverpudlian KOF has made his impact on the homegrown scene with tracks such as 'Fire It Up' featuring Wiley and his EP ‘DJ Put It Louder.’ You may have seen him performing on the Huw Stephens BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury festival too. ‘All Good’ is currently on the 1Xtra b-list and will be released for free on November 21st.

North London artist Skepta has been making grime since the early 00’s and has collaborated with the likes of Chipmunk, N Dubz, Tinchy Stryder and P Diddy. With two albums under his LV belt and a third to be released next year, Skepta recently headlined the MOBO tour to critical acclaim.‘Cross My Heart’ feat. Preeya Kalidas is out now.

Twenty-five year old Mancunian R.I.O made his mark by releasing four mixtapes in less than two years, with radio support coming from DJs like MistaJam (Radio1) and DJ Target (1Xtra). He’s also opened shows for Ne-Yo, T-Pain, Chipmunk and Ironik. His new single ‘Mr Unpredictable’ was produced by Nathan Retro and is out now.
