Congratulations to YolanDa Brown and Blake Grape Management  for their triumph at the MOBO Awards. 2008 has indeed proved to be a landmark year for the team.

“I am so thrilled to have won Best Jazz category at the MOBO Awards,” says YolanDa, who is the first female saxophonist to be nominated for a MOBO. “It has been an amazing year and this is just the beginning of the journey.”

Urban Music Bursary winner Adetokunbo T Oyeola and his partner, comedian Eddie Kadi, form the powerhouse partnership that is Black Grape Productions. As an independent outfit, they have mounted ‘sell–out’ concerts, financed two critically acclaimed  EPs and released a DVD. Still unsigned, and with no major marketing budget YolanDa has played venues from Jamaica to Berlin, Somerset to Spain, performed duets with Alexander O’Neil, opened for Courtney Pine and packed out  the prestigious Cadogan Hall in Sloane Square, London.
