NEWS: BBC Work Experience Placement For Hackney Residents

The BBC and Hackney Council are recruiting now for summer work experience placements in the BBC.

The placement is a 4 week unpaid placement with the BBC. It's open to Hackney residents, aged 18 or over, who don't have a degree or are on a degree course and who are passionate about media.

Organised by it's team of young cultural ambassadors, trainee producers and journalists, the Discover Young Hackney Festival is one whole month of free arts events, helping young people to discover their hidden talents. Taking place throughout February 2011, Discover Young Hackney will kick off on 4 February at the Hackney Empire with 'Im In', an X Factor style talent contest.

One of the most prominent changes in East London aside from the preparations for Olympics, is arguably the re-opening of Dalston Junction overground. The station which first opened in November 1865 as part of the North London Railway "City Extension" to Broad Street gained notoriety.
