NEWS: BBC Radio 1 Signs Five New Specialists DJs

Raise your glasses and let's make a toast to Skream & Benga, Toddla T, Charlie Sloth and Friction who will have their own shows on the station starting from April 2012.
Skream & Benga will bring their dubstep flavour to Friday night dance line-up (11pm-1am), in addition to Annie Mac (7-9pm) and Pete Tong (9-11pm).
Benga said, "This is a massive honour and we're going to make the show really special. I'm so excited to get started and everyone is going to have a lovely time on Fridays!"
NEWS: BBC Sound Of 2012 List Unveiled

As 2011 comes to an end, it's time for the UK tastemakers to compile their lists of which artists we should look out for next year.
With the likes of journo Chantelle Fiddy, Music Week editor Tom Ingham, 1Xtra DJs Trevor Nelson and Mistajam, SBTV founder Jamal Edwards and more on the list, BBC Sound of 2012 list includes pop urban act StooShe, UK dubstep king Flux Pavillion and the soulful Lianne La Havas among the nominees.
In January 2012, the top five acts and the winner will be revealed.

NEWS: BBC Work Experience Placement For Hackney Residents

The BBC and Hackney Council are recruiting now for summer work experience placements in the BBC.
The placement is a 4 week unpaid placement with the BBC. It's open to Hackney residents, aged 18 or over, who don't have a degree or are on a degree course and who are passionate about media.

The BBC recently announced the names of the 15 acts who successfully made onto its 'Sound of 2011' longlist. This year the urban acts seem to have emerged as a powerful with nearly half of the list having firm roots in the underground scene.
