Special projects provide Urban Development with an opportunity to partner with dynamic organisations to create new projects that combines mediums such as music, dance and film in fresh and exciting ways.
Young London Into Music

First launched in 2009 by CREATE, Young London: Into Music is delivered in partnership with local education and development organisations and agencies: Urban Development (Newham), Biggafish (Tower Hamlets), Continental Drifts (Waltham Forest), Rising Tide (Hackney) and British Music Experience at The 02; a permanent interactive museum at The O2 dedicated to the history of popular music in Britain. A large part of the group mentored within Young London: Into Music’ fall under the socially excluded banner and are ‘Not in Employment, Education or Training’ (NEET). By working with industry professionals, the young participants are inspired to engage in the development of new music content, curate, produce and promote a series of events alongside high profile artists. Young London: Into Music is created by young people, for young people.
As part of Young London: Into Music, the Urban Development Vocal Collective have performed at various events which have included:
- Lovebox Festival
- Paradise Gardens Festival
- Young Peoples' African Caribbean Festival
DV8 Training Showcases

Working in partnership with DV8 Training, Walthamstow, high-flying graduates from their Music Industry Project partner with Urban Development to deliver a fresh, urban talent showcase featuring some of the biggest names in the game, surprise guests and emerging stars, all ready to take over centre stage. Past guests have included Devlin, Ghetts. Shola Ama, Griminal, Ny, Giggs and Chipmunk.
