With home recording and the rapid growth of digital distribution and promotion, the job of a music producer has changed massively. The UDevelop production project helps aspiring beat-makers navigate the minefield.

During the sessions you will learn how to operate Logic, produce beats, remix songs, create melodies and basslines, record vocals, mix & EQ tracks, bounce sound files and save MP3s to upload via Internet. The project takes a very practical approach to learning. Our aim is to take producers beyond the creation of music. Participants will be encouraged to run their operation as a record label with clearly defined goals. To this end, they will take responsibility for writing their own biographies, developing image and brand, exploring traditional marketing opportunities, as well as online platforms such as Myspace.
Students will also research the work of a well-known producer to learn more about career paths and go to a live event.

Students who complete the project successfully will be awarded the Bronze Youth Arts Award.
