MOBO UNSUNG COMPETITION DEADLINE EXTENDED TO JANUARY 30

INDUSTRY TAKEOVER TO PROVIDE FREE WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS ACROSS THE UK

MOBO, Urban Development and PRS for Music Foundation today announce more names to join The MOBO Tour, bringing together the hottest and most exciting new talent for 2012.

Joining the already hotly tipped Clement Marfo and The Front Line and Lady Leshurr on tour are five more of the UK’s most exciting and exuberant underground acts - Youngman, P Money, Josh Osho, Rascals and Cleo Sol.

Already a favourite with tastemakers, Youngman has toured the world with Example, Skream and Benga and is back to take on the UK with the MOBO Tour. P Money is no stranger to the live scene; part of seminal crew, OGz, he’s worked with Ed Sheeran and True Tiger, and is the newest signing to Rinse, home to Katy B. Commanding on any beat from grime to dubstep to rap, his street anthems have made him one of the most in-demand performers in UK rap.

Josh Osho has been building a buzz across blogs and websites since he hit the scene several months back and 2012 looks like it’s his year. This guitar playing singer songwriter featured Ghostface Killah on his debut single, while his forthcoming album is executively produced by Ghost's Wu Tang Clan mate, the RZA.

Causing chaos wherever they go, energetic London three piece Rascals have had over 5 million hits on Youtube and are one of the most exciting young Grime crews around and Cleo Sol has a voice that needs to be heard to be believed. Born to a musical family, the half Serbian/ half Spanish west London singer has worked with everyone from Davinche to Tinie Tempah, Bashy, Roll Deep and Wretch 32.

Due to an overwhelming initial response, MOBO have also revealed they will extend the deadline for the MOBO Unsung competition to 30TH January to give undiscovered talent across the UK a further 7 days to submit their entries.

This nationwide competition is open to enter NOW and all would-be performers need to do to get started is upload a video of themselves performing to YouTube and email the link, embed code and details of which region they live in, to mobounsung@mobo.com.

A random selection of entries will be available for the public to view at www.mobo.com/mobotour before this will be narrowed down to 3 finalists from each region. These finalists will be announced first week of February and feature on the MOBO website before a group of MOBO Tour Partners and experts select a winner for each of the 8 regions to perform on stage when the tour hits their city.

From these 8 finalists an overall national winner will then be chosen but more on this to follow…

The MOBO Tour 2012 is set to travel to eight cities across the UK, offering audiences the opportunity to see some of 2012’s freshest, emerging talent on stage and attend industry workshops and seminars (via Industry Takeover @ MOBO Academy). It’s also a chance for undiscovered talent across the country to get involved in the MOBO Unsung competition. Thanks to funding from Arts Council England and PRS for Music Foundation all of this will be provided for FREE.

Seminars and workshops are provided with thanks to Urban Development’s ‘Industry Takeover’ and will take place on the day of the show. Industry experts from well respected organisations including SB.TV, RWD Magazine, PRS for Music Foundation, SJM Concerts, artists on the MOBO Tour and more will all be sharing their insider industry knowledge, answering questions and offering advice to audiences across the country. And all for FREE.

The MOBO Tour, seminars, workshops and Unsung competition highlights all partners’ efforts to support, guide and nurture new and developing talent across the UK.
