BRAND PROFILE: Rinse FM
In the run up to Re:Definition on 7th July (which is all about celebrating east London), we'll be profiling some top brands and organisations that have the East End at their core. So pay close attention...
Who are the brand?
Rinse FM
What do they do?
Originally known as London’s biggest pirate radio station, Rinse FM specialises in UK garage, funky house, dubstep and grime.
Services they provide?
Founded in 1994, after much delay, Rinse finally received a community broadcast FM licence in June 2010. Rinse is a leader in the UK urban music scene, and also puts on various live shows in conjunction with club night FWD>>, commonly known as Rinse + FWD>>. The station also provides training to young people looking to start a career in broadcasting.
Why should people look out for them?
Rinse has broken the careers of the scene's hottest stars including Dizzee Rascal, Wiley, Magnetic Man and Tinchy Stryder to name a few. Plus, Rinse features shows by some of the UK’s top artists, producers and DJs including Skream, Boy Better Know and Teddy Music. Look out for Urban Development's very own DJ Wonder on Friday nights (1am-3am) and Sian Anderson on Tuesday afternoons (1pm-3pm).
Latest project?
Rinse + FWD>> at Lovebox 2011 at Victoria Park, London on Friday 15th July (BUY TICKETS HERE). The stage will play host to Skream, Zinc, Ms Dynamite, Roll Deep, Plastician, P Money and more.
