BRAND PROFILE: East Village

In the run up to Re:Definition on 7th July (which is all about celebrating east London), we'll be profiling some top brands and organisations that have the East End at their core. So pay close attention...

Who are the brand?

East Village

What do they do?

Opened in 2007 by promoter and DJ Stuart Patterson, East Village has fast become a popular nightspot for trendy music lovers in the buzzing Shoreditch and Old Street area. Previously known as Medicine Bar, it boasts two rooms, with East Village downstairs equipped with it’s own entrance and Villain upstairs, providing a more intimate venue (sometimes used as a VIP area).

Services they provide?

It regularly hosts the hugely popular night Rock The Belles and in the last few weeks was the venue of choice for Urban Development friends Teddy Music for his Wow Bass Level 4 EP Launch Party and Rinse FM DJ’s JJ & Vectra’s Birthday Party. Also, Erykah Badu held an exclusive DJ set there while on her UK tour with Nas and Damien Marley.

Why should people look out for them?

East Village is a popular choice amongst those in the urban music scene as well as other genres. Previous guests and DJs have included Norman Jay, Fatboy Slim and Just Blaze & Alchemist. The sound system is pretty top notch and the drinks prices are reasonable for the area its in!

Latest project?

Mayer Hawthorne (DJ Set) on 30 June 2011, but keep an eye on their listings page for the latest events.
